Conversion coatings

“Conversion” means transformation: Constituents of the treatment solution become a conversion coating with metal ions released from the surface of the component, which grows onto the part surface. Such layers are firmly bonded to the part surface and – in combination with paint – offer excellent anti-corrosion and coating properties.

In addition to the well-known zinc and iron phosphating systems, we also offer the recently introduced chromium-free thin-film process, which is also called nanotechnology. These processes – which are formulated with transition metals – are characterized by low chemical consumption, reduced energy consumption in terms of heating, and virtually sludge-free function.

The conversion processes are completed by chromium (III)-containing formulations In addition to the pretreatment of coatings, these chromate-free methods are also used for blank corrosion protection on galvanized and aluminum surfaces.
